**The Role

 

 

We have an opportunity for an experienced HSEQ Specialist in our HSSEQ department. This role is essential to our team, focusing on HSE compliance and assurance in engineering and project activities, including the requirements of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM). You will work with various on-site departments, providing expert advice and support, ensuring HSE performance meets standards, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

 

Alongside the requirements of CDM, the role will also focus on other key risk management areas including the management of contractors, risk assessment, risk communication & handovers, permit to work & learning from events.

 

Primary Accountabilities:

 

HSSE leadership

 

  • Be the HSEQ focal point for the supported departments and establish the appropriate structures, meetings and reporting systems to ensure HSEQ aspects get the appropriate focus and priority e.g. HSE Meeting, incident reviews, action management processes and health risk assessment processes.
  • Coordinate and champion HSEQ focus & assurance including time in the field by completing site visits, PSFO’s, Inclusive of routine review, analysis of data and recommending changes.
  • Work alongside engineers and work managers to ensure appropriate task evaluation, risk assessment and control measure implementation is maintained
  • Generate and collate management information to enable and drive HSEQ performance improvement through the line.
  • Maintain an effective process for the management of incidents and actions within the supported department areas
  • Work closely with our Business Partners and contractor teams to improve overall combined performance relating the HSE including field presence, proactive monitoring and campaigns
  • Champion a positive HSEQ culture, supporting HSEQ communication, campaign development and roll out
  • Lead and / or facilitate incident investigations inclusive of chairing HSE circles, and the use of RIT or other RCA tools to establish root causes and corrective actions.
  • Establish appropriate networks with stakeholders within the relevant teams
  • Actively contribute to the Goal Zero safety standstill program and Goal Zero performance.
  • Support the development of various risk assessment & risk register processes
  • Actively champion the BMS within the supported departments and support the Quality management aspects and actively participate in the internal audit program.
  • Lead/ support unit shutdown projects (Turnaround and other designated maintenance events) from an HSE perspective.

 

 

**About You

 

The ideal candidate will possess a NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum requirement, with a background in plant engineering activities and / or project works, a NEBOSH diploma, degree or equivalent is desirable. Previous experience of working in a COMAH manufacturing site (upper tier) is highly desirable.  

 

Ideally you will have experience of contractor management, risk assessment, safe working requirements for large manufacturing plant & equipment, permit to work processes and good knowledge of the CDM regulations.

 

The candidate must have a passion for Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality matters, with a strong ability to drive change. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to confidently present information and challenge perceptions to achieve the best outcomes for the company. A pragmatic and flexible approach to work is also important. You may also be required to join a duty rota.
