**The Role


Following the success of our recent acquisitions and the launch of our company leased dealer operated (CLDO) business model for our retail business, we have ambitious plans to accelerate the growth of our Essar retail brand and rapidly scale up our forecourt network across the country.


With a fresh approach to forecourt retailing and seamless integration with our Stanlow refinery which is set to become the UK’s first low carbon process refinery, we’re redefining forecourt experiences and transforming filling stations into hubs of community convenience with the brands and services customers want and need.


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Retail Regional Manager to join our retail team.  The role is responsible for managing a team of three Territory Managers in the acquisition of both  wholesale fuel supply agreements and leasehold contracts. The Retail Regional Manager will provide analytical support, business insight and contract compliance recommendations to the team.

In additon, the role is responsible for liaison between the field-based team, customers, internal and external service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition over to a direct EET Fuels’ supply agreement or Essar -branded forecourt.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Evaluate potential opportunities for station development within the country using various tools, data, and market intelligence.
  • Provide analytical support for the preparation and assessment of Retail deals, both on a term and spot basis.
  • Thoroughly understand and analyse the dynamics of the Retail Fuels market.
  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to foster Essar Retail regional growth.
  • Facilitate the signing of wholesale (branded) fuel supply and long-tenure petrol station lease contracts.
  • Plan, establish, and oversee Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets for Territory Managers.
  • Conduct bi-weekly sales reviews to track progress and ensure goals are met.
  • Inspire, motivate, and coach Territory Managers to attain growth KPI targets.
  • Maintain a focus on the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of their work.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with existing and potential Dealer customers.
  • Optimize sales opportunities and expand the pool of potential Commission Operators for site operations.
  • Foster and sustain close relationships with property agents and brokers.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive Catchment & Competitor analysis.
  • Develop and maintain precise Financial Models to guide decision-making.
  • Formulate persuasive sales proposals, skilfully negotiate terms, and promptly close and onboard contracts.
  • Work closely with Network Planning, On-boarding, and Legal colleagues to ensure swift implementation of commercially agreed contracts.
  • Ensure the CRM system and all sales-related documentation are consistently accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Provide analytical support for deal-making execution and ensure adherence to contract compliance standards.

HSSE, Audit Reporting and Compliance:

  • Evaluate potential opportunities for station development within the country using various tools, data, and market intelligence.  
  • Drive the implementation of operational projects across the Retail business.
  • Enforce adherence to sales policy and processes within the team.
  • Undertake management forecasting and reporting activities as required for effective decision-making and planning.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to develop robust contracting strategies and ensure ongoing contract performance.


Cost and Efficiency Delivery:

  • Lead exposure assessment in Retail, addressing factors such as temperature, credit, price timing, and drive actions to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Own the business interface with key service providers, ensuring service offerings meet both Essar and customer expectations.
  • Lead Retail reporting to the executive committee on Balanced Scorecard (BSC), Annual Business Plan (ABP), and other relevant metrics.



**About You


Our ideal candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of the UK retail fuels sector, including in-depth knowledge of market dynamics, key retailers, and competitors and also have proven experience as a successful sales leader, demonstrating the ability to formulate and execute sales growth plans with a track record of achieving positive outcomes.


You should be a seasoned sales leader with a history of inspiring, motivating, and coaching teams to achieve and exceed sales targets, along with extensive experience as a strong relationship builder and networker, both externally with clients and internally within organisational structures.


You should be accomplished in communication, possessing excellent written, verbal, and presentational skills that contribute to effective internal and external interactions.  Demonstrated proficiency as a practiced negotiator and influencer, with a successful record of closing long-tenure contracts and achieving sales objectives.  Adept at working collaboratively as part of a team, providing strong contributions to overall business objectives, and fostering a collaborative working environment.  Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills, effectively handling multiple priorities to ensure efficient and productive work processes.  You should be able to manage complex and competing priorities within sales-related processes, ensuring strategic objectives are met.


You should also possess keen attention to detail, ensuring that all documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date in accordance with industry standards and organisational requirements.
