**The Role

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Power & Control Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The role combines reactive and pro-active responsibilities and will provide technical support to a production area on the Refinery to optimise plant safety, availability, performance & cost whilst ensuring compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

 

The role will lead design and development activities from an Electrical, Control &Instrumentation perspective on plant modifications; acting as a technical authority authorised under the site management of change processes and be expected to lead or support a variety of projects. The individual will act independently and provide technical advice and assurance in a range of areas, including hazard studies, functional safety and plant process automation whilst being responsive to emergent issues and ensuring established business processes are followed.

 

The role will be an integral part of a multi-discipline production area technical assurance team, driving reliability and production improvement activities, with responsibility for the management of reliability threats associated with C&I equipment; being proactive in proposing and executing strategies to mitigate these, including the approaches to maintenance and equipment upgrades. In addition, the role will define and optimise the scope of Turnarounds and assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of these.

 

The role is expected to provide out-of-hours support via a duty rota.

 

**About You

 

You should be a Graduate Engineer, whether chartered or working towards chartered status, with significant practical experience in process plant production support and project experience in the areas of automation, instrumentation, control systems and safeguarding.

 

You should have experience in being a technical authority / authorised under management of change processes as required under COMAH regulations, with good commercial, procurement & contracting strategy awareness with excellent knowledge of Engineering standards (e.g. API, DEP’s, British Standards) and have the ability to research and apply.

 

A demonstrated interest in recent innovations in the fields of automation, instrumentation, and process monitoring, including wireless technologies, would be an advantage.
