Project Manager

As a Project Manager, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of major capital investment projects that support our operational and strategic growth ambitions. Reporting to the Head of UK CAPEX Project Delivery, you will be responsible for leading the safe, efficient and predictable delivery of complex projects and work packages, initially supporting enabling activities for HPP1 and CHP. Working across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Following the completion of the initial assignment, you will have the opportunity to support other strategically important CAPEX projects across the business. 

 

You will:

 

• Lead the delivery of CAPEX projects and work packages from scope definition through to construction, completion and handover.
• Manage engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities to achieve safe and successful project outcomes. 
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.
• Drive performance against key project objectives including safety, schedule, cost, quality and delivery readiness. 
• Establish workfront readiness by securing permits, materials, access requirements and stakeholder approvals. 
• Manage project interfaces across operational assets, engineering teams, contractors and wider business programmes.
• Take ownership of project controls, including scope, schedule, cost, risk, opportunity and change management. 
• Provide visible leadership in both office and site environments, fostering a strong culture of safety, collaboration and accountability. 
• Ensure compliance with all HSSE, process safety, governance and assurance requirements. 
• Contribute to the successful delivery of future priority CAPEX projects across the business. 

 

 

 

• Significant experience delivering major CAPEX projects within refining, energy, power, hydrogen, chemicals or other high-hazard industrial environments.
• A degree in Engineering, Construction, Project Management or a related discipline, with chartered status or a recognised project management qualification being advantageous. 
• A proven track record of managing complex brownfield modifications, infrastructure projects, utilities and construction activities on operational sites.
• Understanding of project controls and can effectively manage cost forecasting, scheduling, risk management and change control processes. 
• Leadership skills with experience managing EPC contractors and multidisciplinary project teams. 
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of an organisation.
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing contractor and supplier performance. 
• Delivery-focused approach, and be decisive and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. 
• The highest standards of HSSE and process safety, with the confidence to challenge unsafe behaviours when required. 
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and committment to continuous improvement and project excellence.
